Workout Log 198 - Countdown to New Years

So it's the countdown to New Years with no time for a workout as I hosted New Years at my place.     Calorie intake for today of coarse was through the roof with all the booze and food late in the evening. But as the clock struck 12am, I reminded myself of what a successful year I had with my weight-loss and looking forward to another great year to sustain my current weight and build a little more muscle.

Tomorrow I 'should' be hitting the gym but from the looks of it, I'll be waking up with a hangover and no motivation for a workout. Will try to keep clean with calorie intake as I have already gained 5 pounds in the passed week.

Workout Log 197 - New Years Prep

With plenty of preparations for new years eve, unfortunately there was no time for a workout. Kept on par with meals and calorie intake as I know that tomorrow will be a calorie infested evening with plenty of food and drinks. Looking forward to New Years Eve! =)

Workout Log 196 - Team Canada destroys Team Slovakia !

Dang...I was doing soo well today...Well, that was until my buddies called me over to have a couple of beers and watch Team Canada destroy Team Slovakia in the World Junior Hockey Championships - 8 to 2. Since we won(which was kinda expected), it was all worth it.. =)

All meals and calories were met until later in the evening where I kept it conservative and only had 2 beers. In the gym, I stuck with the program and worked on hamstrings, chest, shoulders, calves, abs and did an extra 10 min (100 calories) on the treadmill. Felt pretty good... =)

Tomorrow, along with Thursday will be very busy (new years eve prep and such), so therefore - no time for a workout. So that being said, I'll have to try to keep the treats to a minimum, but not gonna fool myself with the amounts of alcohol in front of me on new years. =) Uhhh ya...it's new years. It'll be time to get "Crunkin"!!!!  =)

Workout Log 195 - Ok, so I busted the weight scale....

Oh boy..I checked the weight scale today and I gained 4 pounds this week. :-(  It looks like the holiday treats has finally caught up with me.

For the passed 3 weeks I've balancing out with 3 to 4 workouts for the week and balancing my calorie intake without gaining 1 pound nor increasing the waist line. But for the passed week, I definitely tipped the scale and packed on some serious calories (I mean - who hasn't, right?). So of course my results will reflect on my 'bad' behavior. So, for this week, I'm a little disappointed but not really surprised. Heck, who am I kidding? I loved it!! But now I have to face the cruel reality of taking a step back and pay the price of having too much fun. Oh well...No biggie, I'll lose it...I've done it before,  right? =)

Since January 1st is only 4 days away I'll be holding off with this week's picture and status details(usually posted every Monday) since I was already planning to post my results for Friday (January 1st 2010). Besides, I think I need these 4 days as a chance to lose the 4 pounds, but looking at what's ahead (New Years eve and etc.) this may be a mission impossible.

Speaking of which, I got in the gym today and I completed 30 min cardio on the treadmill burning 300 calories. But I think I may have blown away the workout when I drank a couple of rum and cokes later in the evening. :) Oh well... It's still the festive season... =)

Tomorrow and until Friday, I'm just gonna continue with the workout plan and continue to balance exercise with what I consume. Remember, balance is key....

Workout Log 194 - Burning off the Holiday Calories

With all the calories collected in the past week, I'm in desperate need to work off the calories and get back on track with the mission / journey. Today I completed pushups, a few crunches, chinups and 45 min of cardio. The workout really got me into a good sweat and can feel my muscles getting back into formation.

With missing a few days this week, along with the high calorie Christmas treats that I've been devouring, I have been feeling really sluggish and lazy. But after working out for the past 2 days in a row, I'm starting to feel a little more energetic and motivated again. =)

Tomorrow is the weigh-in and review and I can seriously say it's not gonna look good. =( I have seriously put my body through hell and wouldn't be surprised if I gained 5 pounds - but we shall see...I will also be starting fresh with the RTP workout plan starting with day 1. Looking forward to it (but not looking forward to this week's results). =)

Workout Log 193 - Boxing Day = Back in the gym

So with it being boxing day today (Canada's version of America's Black Friday), I decided not to join in with the long linups and huge frenzy at the malls. Instead, I did the smart thing and purchased an ASUS laptop  online for a cheap price of $449.97 at Tigerdirect.ca. I've been eying this for a while and that's a great deal!! No linups (it's online) and it's shipped for free! yaa!! =) My laptop right now(Acer Aspire) is 3 years old and it sucks! I'm now on my 2nd hard drive and some other functions have stopped working. Yes, time for an upgrade and refuse to deal with another ACER (maybe I got a bad apple). =)

Aside from boxing day deals, I spent most of my time home and therefore had plenty of time to get in the gym. Boy was it hard to get in there, but felt soooo good coming out!!

So I completed an hour's time in the gym mostly doing cardio and light weight training. For the cardio, I used the treadmill changing from jogging and walking incline for approx 45 min, burning a total of 450 calories. Then did a few sets of pushups, situps and chinups. Nothing I did today is on schedule with my regular RTP workout plan as I plan to start off fresh with it Monday.

For tomorrow, I plan on doing the same type of workout, focusing on basic weight training and more cardio to work off those extra pounds. Looking forward to burning those calories off! =)

Workout Log 192 - Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone!

With all the Christmas events going on today, unfortunately there was no room for a workout session. Every single meal that I had today was high in calories along with polishing off a 6 pack of Steam Whistle [Toronto's finest beer :) ].

Tomorrow is Boxing Day and won't be looking for any deals outside, so I should have time to hit the gym and burn some calories for all the food/drinks that I consumed for today.

Again, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Workout Log 191 - Twas the night before Christmas

No workout for today and of course with all the Punch de Creme(shown below) and rum drinks that I had for the evening along with a family sized dinner, I definitely have tipped over the scale.

Trini Eggnog (Eggnog w/ rum) - Punch De Creme
As you know, Christmas is tomorrow. Realistically, I don't think I'll even have time to go to the gym. But in perspective, this is one day that I should go to the gym to balance the amount of food I'll be consuming. As with most people during this time of the holidays, there are a lot of friends and family events. It's good to partake in the goodies, but it's also best not to go overboard. As the ol' saying goes, "too much of anything is not good." ;)

Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas to everyone!

Workout 190 - Couch Potato Day

No workout for today. Surprisingly, I had the time to go, but just didn't feel like it. Ya, who wudda thunk it huh? Ya seriously, I was about to go during my scheduled time, and the couch was calling me. I just had to respond to it's calling. =)

Tomorrow is Christmas eve. As with most people on this busy day, I do have a few things planned, but will still try to get in the gym. I want to get that pumped feeling again.. =)

Workout 189 - Chining up.

Completed 20 min cardio, abs and worked on back and arms doing chin-ups. Coming out of the gym, I felt soo pumped! In regards to food intake, I had no work today, so it was pretty easy to keep strong with tempting foods and such.

Tomorrow is weight training and abs...I may be a little busy with Christmas stuff, but will make a best effort to make it.

Workout Log 188 - Week 26 Review - Weight Sustained

Wow, a week already...And by looking at the numbers and my physical status I have neither gained or lost weight.  That is excellent news!! I was seriously convinced that by the end of this week I would have gained 5 pounds! When in reality, I stayed stagnant. Cool!!!

Week 26 Pic

Looking back at the week,  I only went to the gym for 3 days of the week and have been eating pretty much junk every other day. I also had a issue with a paining back, which got better in a few days. Amazingly, my weight and fat% has held up - well at least for this week....Next week is Christmas and  I see this upcoming week more challenging than the passed week. To balance out the week, I'll try to stay strong and limit my intake of high calorie foods/drinks and will make a best effort to get in the gym at least 5 times for the week. We'll see how I do.....

Today, I completed a full hour in the gym working on arms, legs, shoulders, abs and an extra 20 minutes of cardio. Ahhh..It felt so good getting into the gym and felt soo good coming out.... Too bad, I wasn't singing the same tune 'before' getting to the gym. I almost forced myself, but did make it though... =)

Tomorrow is 30 min cardio. Looking forward to it. ;-)

Workout Log 187 - Epic failure of a day.

I totally sucked today in pretty much every category. With Christmas coming up soon, I used today to deal with the Christmas rush which pretty much took me all day to deal with.

With that being said, I only ate twice for the day, but for the amount of calories I consumed in such as small period, I pretty much ate 2 to 3 days worth! I also washed it all down with Eggnog and Rum later in the evening. =) Hehehehe....Oh well, it's Christmas...I'd rate today as an Epic FAIL. =)

Tomorrow, I have to get in the gym!!! I have absolutely no plans(and no excuse to miss it) and will complete weight training, abs and cardio. Looking forward to it. =)

Workout Log 186 - Filling the Christmas Cart

No time for workout today. With Christmas around the corner, time has definitely not been on my side with work during the day and Christmas shopping errands thereafter. In regards to food, I kept pretty good, but only missed 1 meal.

Tomorrow is weight training and cardio. Will try to see if I can do this. With so many errands tomorrow, I hope I can squeeze it in there.

Workout Log 185 - Grilling at New Generation

With no time for a workout after work, I instead had a dinner date with the wifey where we dined at one of our favorite Japanese/Korean restaurants : New Generation - Grill Fusion.

To give a quick review, there are 2 New Generation locations within a 2 min walking distance near Bloor and Bathurst downtown Toronto, where both restaurants serve Japanese food(sushi, bento boxes and etc) while the Grill Fusion will also serve all you can eat Korean BBQ(which is where we went to) supplied with propane grills at each table.

The Korean BBQ is a unique dining experience where you cook your own raw marinated beef, chicken, pork, lamb, ox tongue, ox liver, veggies, salmon, shrimp, halibut and squid on a small grill located in the middle of your dining table. If you are not interested in certain meats, you can easily opt out at any time. To maneuver the meat within the grill, they give you tongs to use and they also offer to change the grill once the grill get's too black

As with every visit, service has always been great where the waitresses are always asking if you want more food or drinks or discretely stand nearby waiting to pickup empty dishes on your table. If I were to give a score out of 10, for the food and service, I would give it a 9 out of 10.

Tomorrow I should have some time for a workout, but with Christmas coming closer and closer, I may have a few errands to run. But I'll see...

Workout Log 184 - Pain in the back, is back...

Oh well, I missed a day at work today as I couldn't get out of bed. I wish I could say it was due to all the booze I drank the night before, but I seriously couldn't get out of bed due to back issues. So I slept in till 12pm, used some Deep Cold ointment and 2 Tylenol, which miraculously got me going by the late afternoon.

I didn't want to wuss out on my workout, so I completed 30 min of scheduled cardio on the treadmill. Back was ok during the cardio and didn't stress it too much. I should be ok by tomorrow.

Looking at my schedule tomorrow, I may not have time for gym as I have dinner date with the wifey... I may be able to squeeze in a 30 min workout, but I'll see....

Workout Log 183 - Steam Whistle : The Good Beer Folks

As previously planned, no workout for today. I had yet another Christmas party, which I had a great time "knockin' back" a few bottles of Steam Whistle, shots of Tequila, wings, fries and nachos. Overall excellent time. I didn't go too crazy on the fried foods, but as for the beer......well ya know... it's Christmas time...:-)

Tomorrow is cardio, but my back is still a bit wack. Not sure if I'll take another rest day, but I'll see how I feel.

Workout Log 182 - Me Back be Achin' me!

Completed 50 min in the gym today, where I worked on legs, back, arms, abs, and shoulders. Again, it feels so good to get back in there. The only problem is, my back is killin' me! I believe the back ache was due to a combination of leg presses and straight leg dead lifts that I was doing.

Not sure if it's from bad form or from the fact that this it's the 1st time in 3 months doing these exercises (since I've gone back to day 1 on the 3 month workout plan). I'll just take it easy though as I definitely don't want turn this into an injury.

Well, that being said, I'm gonna take tomorrow off and rest up. Plus I have another Christmas party to attend (woohoo!!  More drinks!! - You gotta love Christmas!) . So no workout for tomorrow. Will pick it up again on Thursday.

Workout Log 181 - Week 25 Review - No Change

Looking at this passed week and compared to previous weeks, I totally sucked.  I only went to the gym 3 times! Yikes! Funny thing is, I had no change in appearance and my numbers stayed the same from last week. So no big deal. At least I didn't gain anything from all the fatty foods I ate. :-)

Since the Christmas season is in, I can see myself missing a few more days as there are so many Christmas parties to go to and so many goodies that are pretty much in your face (like cookies, cake biscuits, beer and other Christmas goodies). But what is key here is to balance the limited goodies with exercise and overall make a best effort to eat properly.

So if I were to change anything about the last week, I wish I could have gone in the gym at least 1 or 2 more times. As for food, I'll continue to do my thing and 'nibble' at the goodies, but I'm definitely not going to dismiss it. =)

Week 25 Pic

So speaking of which, as for today's workout, I completed arms, calves, triceps, abs and chest.  I also added in 15 min extra cardio on the treadmill burning 180 extra calories. Felt damn good to get back in there!
No goodies for today. Kept pretty healthy.

Tomorrow is weight training and abs. I shouldn't have any problems missing this workout as I have nothing planned. Looking forward to it. =)

Workout Log 180 - No Workout - Christmas prep with the Familia

As previously planned, no workout today as I was still with the family finishing up on the pastel dish. I also had a couple of beers while preparing the dish.

Tomorrow I will be getting back on the bandwagon and get back on the path of my journey. For whatever is scheduled for Monday (which I believe is weight training), I'll add some cardio to it as well. Looking forward to it. =)

Workout Log 178 - The Office Christmas Party

With no time for a workout in the evening, I had previously planned to have today as my reward day  as well as my day off for exercise since I have our office Christmas Party this evening.

The office party is pretty low key, but overall had a good time. I enjoyed a few Steam Whistle's (Toronto's finest beer) along with the expected bar type appetizers such as pizza, wings, breaded shrimp and etc. Calorie count definitely pretty high this evening, but it's a reward meal so, it's that's not too bad.

I'll pickup the pace again tomorrow with weight training and cardio. Looking forward to it.

Workout Log 179 - Making Pastels with the Fam'

I totally forgot about this weekend....Every year my parents and I get together 2 weeks before Christmas to make a Spanish / Trinidad dish called Pastels aka Hallacas. Since the process to make this dish takes approximately 10 hours to complete 100 pastels, I have reserved the whole weekend to help out. See below for an example of what it is.

This dish is composed of seasoned lean ground beef, onions, raisins, olives, capers and corn meal wrapped in a banana leaf. The banana leaf is used to preserve and shape the pastel. Tastes delicious, but high in carbs, fat and sodium.

This is another reason why we usually make this dish during the Christmas holiday. We eat it now, so in January we can work it off....Well in my case I rather work off the food I eat, so I don't gain. =) But unfortunately today, not only did I sample a Pastel, I also ate KFC with the family.

Obviously there is no way to avoid eating this delicious and fatty meal, but will have to make sure that I work hard next week to make up for it. Oh ya - I'll be missing tomorrow's workout as well...Oh well, what can I do.... ;-)

Workout Log 177 / Week 24 - Going Rogue (You Betchya!)

So back in the gym today and completed 30 min cardio along with a few rogue exercises that wasn't exactly on the program. The scheduled workout was to work on back, arms and legs...Since I used the treadmill for running and speed walking on an incline, and then used the chin-up bar for a few sets.

So in perspective, all areas were covered that needed work for the workout. The workout itself was refreshing seeing that I missed yesterday's scheduled workout, but I'm not gonna beat myself over yesterday's lazy day. I needed it... ;-)

Tomorrow will not be possible for a workout due to my busy schedule, but will reserve tomorrow as my rest day. Looking ahead, I will pickup the pace on Saturday...
