Workout Log 243 - Move over Michael Phelps, Little Riddick passin' through!

With cardio scheduled for today, instead of the same ol' treadmill, bike or elliptical, I figured I will change it up. In my condo, I conveniently have a very cool pool (huge pool with high ceilings and all), but seldom use it.

I'll be frankly honest, I totally forgot that I had a pool to use. I see it all the time when I go to the gym, but since I'm not much of a swimming fan, I usually dismiss it...Well, not until today. =)

I spent approximately 45 minutes in the pool and completed about 40 to 50 laps doing the breast stroke and front crawl. Ya - I was dead tired! So dead tired that I had spend another 10 min in the jacuzzi and another 5 min in the sauna. ;)

Overall good times today and was good to get a change from the norm. Tomorrow is 35 min weight training. Should be no problem.

Workout Log 242 - Week 33 in Review

Another week has passed and it's time to evaluate. So how did I do? Looking over the whole week, I completed all workouts, kept pretty healthy up until Saturday (walking with Johnnie), but did plan ahead by burning extra calories on the treadmill prior to drinking the scotch. If I would give myself a grade it would be an A-.

So looking at the numbers, my weight stayed the same and my waist line stayed the same. WTF!! With all my efforts this week!!?? It's like I haven't done anything at all? A little discouraging huh? Ya...Am I gonna quit/give-up because I worked my a$$ off this week and saw no results? No...This just makes me want to work harder!!
Week 33 Pic
Looking back at my previous weeks of my journey, there were unfortunately a few weeks where I had no change in numbers nor in appearance. I honestly have no explanation of why this occurs(since my program changes all the time to avoid plateauing), but I have come to realize and understand that patience is key and to continue to stay focused on the main goal.
Week 33 Stat Results
Going into this week, I will definitely buckle down again and work hard at it again. I have 6 weeks left till I head to a hot Caribbean island and relax on the beach(yes, I'm purchasing last minute - so I have no idea where I'm going). This is the reward and my goal that will remain shining till the time I head to the airport.

Tomorrow is 40 min cardio. Will definitely complete it. In regards to my commitments today - I kinda sucked, as I had to celebrate Valentines day with da wifey and didn't exactly want to leave her side, (since she just got back from a long weekend trip to the U.S)...Obviously a good time though. ;-)

Hopefully the results this week will reflect some progress and at least get me into the 6% fat range. I am just gonna stick to the program and work hard at it....6 weeks to go....6 weeks to go.....Eye on the prize.... =)

Workout Log 241 - Valentines Day Hardcore Workout

With wifey out of the country for the weekend(how I pulled that off - is another story), I had the opportunity today to head to the Goodlife gym(as a "guest") with a few of my buds instead of my scheduled HIIT cardio at the condo gym.

Since they are on their own quasi plan, we worked on biceps, forearms, shoulders and triceps. Quite the killer workout though(I'm still sore), since we stayed in the gym for over 1.5 hours and completed approximately 10 different exercises. Looking back at the time we spent in the gym, we 'horsed around' for at least 30 min., so actual workout time was about an hour.

Wifey isn't comin' back till tomorrow, so I shall be celebrating Valentines day tomorrow instead. Happy Valentines Day - BTW.. =) I'll try to fit in my workout tomorrow, but for the looks of my schedule - it's not looking good.

Workout Log 240 - Planning a Walk with Johnnie

With knowing that I had poker planned in the evening, I knew that one of my buds was gonna bring over a bottle of Johnnie Black. Since I am so weak when it comes to alcohol, I knew that it was inevitable and therefore had to come up with a plan where "I can I have my cake and eat it too"...

So before heading into the evening, I completed my scheduled weight training (35 min) and then completed another 20 min on the treadmill. This way, I could have a few drinks and not feel too bad.

But my walk with Johnnie  was short though. I didn't want to go overboard, especially when playing poker - so I kept it easy with 3 drinks and kept pretty healthy overall for the day.

Tomorrow is 20 min HIIT cardio. Looking forward to it.

Workout Log 239 - Let the Games Begin!

Scheduled for today was weight training - mostly legs, but decided to use today as my rest day as I had to prepare and host an evening with my buds for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

As patriotic Canadians that we are, this is a 2 week event where we'll be glued to our HD screens and cheering for our country (as you probably were doing). We are predicted to win at least 14 Golds, but I'm hoping that we take every single gold medal. =) GO TEAM CANADA!!
I also decided to have today as my reward meal as a I devoured a few slices of pizza (thin crust, whole wheat) and about 5 beers. Tomorrow will have to be healthy.

Speaking of tomorrow, I also have to complete weight training (35 min) where I'll be targeting on legs and shoulders. Should have time to get 'er done.

Workout Log 238 - Killing Calories on the Cycle

For today's scheduled cardio, I decided to change it up and get back on the cycle. Even though the seat kills my a$$, I figured I needed a change.

So, I completed 40 min on the cycle burning approximately 400 calories, along with 10 min of ab exercises. As for eating, I have again kept it clean by staying under 2300 calories.

Looking forward to another good day. Two more days of this and I get a perfect score with 0 missed workouts and a very healthy week.  Wish me luck.

Workout Log 237 - Pushing the Limits

Another Good Day. Completed weight training today and again really pushed it to the limit.

I again increased the weights by another 5% for each exercise. As an example, I am now curling 95 pounds 10 times. I remember trying this months ago and couldn't get passed 1 rep. As for bench press, I have been using the bench press machine(to avoid injury from the barbell exercises) and now have reached the maximum of 200 lbs. I think I now need to use the barbell - the only thing is I have no spot. I think I may resort to asking someone in the gym to spot a couple of times....

Anyhow, I'll worry about that later. Tomorrow is cardio. So far, I'm on a roll with healthy eating and all and just need to keep the momentum going. Lookin' forward to it.
